For the past few months the LO forum has been bombarded by SPAM bots.  I've had to implement some pretty strict BAN filters as well as some pretty tough SPAM filters on the registration page.  Any real person with half a brain should be able to figure things out.  That said, if you have any problems trying to join please email me via dean(at)limitlessoffroad(dot)com.  I can manually add you as a member or remove an incorrect IP ban range if that's what's blocking you.

Also, for current members who are actively recruiting people, please email me a heads up to watch for potential new members.  Bonus points if you shoot me their email so I can watch for it.

One question I get a lot from people who haven't signed up yet is, "What other sections are there on the forum?"

You'll notice right now the only section you can see is the "Club Info" section.  There are many reasons behind this but the top to are privacy and spam prevention.

However, to entice you, here is the current table of contents for the LO site as of December 2014.

General Category
  • Club Info
  • Club Specific Chat
  • General Discussion
  • Forum Member Intro's
  • Outdoor Recreation
    • The Bunker
    • Overlanding
  • VIP Room (available to "Supporting Members" only)
  • Upcoming Events
  • Past Event Reports

Member's Rigs
  • Member's ATVs
  • Member's OHVs
  • Member's Tow Rigs
  • Member's RC Toys
  • Member's other projects

Tech Section
  • Open Discussions
  • ATV Tech
  • OHV Tech
  • Automotive Tech
  • Diesel Tech
  • High Performance Tech
  • Non-Automotive Tech
Each tech section also has a sub-section for write-ups authored by LO members

Homestead and Lifestyle Section
  • Inside Projects
  • Garages, Workshops, and Basements
  • Lawn and Garden
  • Sustainable Living

Classifieds
  • Vendor Section
  • For Sale
  • Wanted
  • Trade

Site Tech Stuff
  • Site Tech
  • Area 51

As you can see LO has developed over the years to include a lot more than *just* offroad stuff.  As need and interest arises new sections are added.

Hopefully you'll considering joining and contributing to the site.

The top spot for us to wheel OHVs as a club is Rausch Creek Off Road Park.

Necessary Info:

Their forums are worth checking out too. Lots of good tech info, event photos, trail ride dates, etc.  If I am not on here I am on their site.

Question: Can I upload vids to the LO server?

Answer: At this time, no.  If there is enough demand for such a service, and members are willing to chip in for the added software and hosting, then we can offer it.

Question: Can I embed video files that are hosted elsewhere?

Answer: Yes.  You can embed video's from YouTube, GoogleVids, MySpace Vids, Hulu and pretty much anywhere else you find online vids.

Question: How do I embed vids?

Answer: All you need to know is the direct link to the vid file.  No html codes or bb codes are needed.  Just copy and past the link to the vid and the forum will do the rest.  Any issues just PM me and I'll help.

Question: How many vids can I embed at one time?

Answer: In the interest of keeping the forum quick and not bogging it down (as well as being friendly to those who aren't on a direct cable connection) the limit is set at ONE vid per post and 10 video's per page.  Since the current set up on the forum is for 10 post per page, this shouldn't slow things down too much.  Any addition vids more than 1 per post and 10 per page will show up as links rather than being embeded.

LIMITLESS OFFROAD started out as a side project of Dean's back in 2002 when he got his first Jeep (a 1987 Jeep Cherokee Pioneer). It wasn't until 2005 when Jim and his wife Jess (both good friends with Dean) purchased their Honda ATV that Dean and Jim decided to take the LIMITLESS OFFROAD name and form a club around it.  Their goal wasn't to form a club in the formal sense (with officers, by laws and all that crap) but to form a social network of people that ride together, wrench together and hangout in more of a casual manner.  In this regard, LIMITLESS OFFROAD would be unique in that membership is not restricted by vehicle class or brand.

Since 2005 the club has continued to build that social network through word-of-mouth.  Some members are associated with other online communities and other clubs.  Such memberships and associations are encouraged.  Unlike some other clubs out there, LIMITLESS OFFROAD is not the end-all-be-all of organizations.

Question: What happened to the old LIMITLESS OFFROAD forum?

Answer: As of right now (2009-02-17) the forum is still active and will remain active until this site goes live.  It can be found here: http://limitless4x4.proboards84.com/index.cgi

Question: What will happen to the old forum once this one goes live?

Answer: The old forum will still be there, however all the sections will be "locked" and a notice will be put up to redirect people to this site.

Question: I registered for the forum already, but I can't login.  What's wrong?

Answer: Due to the high volume of spam bots and spammers out there, all new registrations must be approved by a moderator.  It's nothing personal.  If you're reading this then you are obviously not a spam bot.  Mainly what we do is check IP addresses to make sure you're not from Africa asking us about holding some money for you in our accounts and giving us a cut.  Just give us a little time to get to your account and we'll activate it.

Question: How come the only section I can see is the "CLUB INFO" section?

Answer:  At this point access to the forum is restricted to forum members.  Which means as a "GUEST" this is the only section you can see.  If you are not a member and are interested in joining our online community, then you must register.  Registration will allow you to view and post in the various sections of the forum (gallery, calendar, tech section, rides, rigs, etc) as well as communicate with other members.  If you are already member, then you need to log in. :poke:

Note: A monetary Donation to the club is not required for forum membership.

Question: How is LIMITLESS OFFROAD different from other clubs and organizations already in existence?

Answer #1: First, LIMITLESS OFFROAD is south-central PA's (and growing) first (and currently only) off road club that is open to any and all classes of off road vehicles.

Answer #2: LIMTILESS OFFROAD originally started as an informal social network, there were no dues, no officers (and therefore no politics) and none of the commitments and requirements of a formal organization (like bylaws).  Recently that has changed due to the desire to grow the club.  However, the legacy of being an informal casual social group rather than a strictly organization will still be the prevailing theme.

Answer #3: We're just that awesome.  :ohyeah:

Answer #4: Since we are not class or brand specific, members are able to associate with other members with different types of rigs and toys that they may not have gotten a chance to meet through other clubs (like brand specific clubs) or organizations (trail ride groups, off road park sites, etc).

There are other reasons that make us different, but it all boils down to the PEOPLE.  Any organization or club is only as strong as the members.  LIMITLESS OFFROAD has experienced its fair share of good years and bad years as membership numbers have fluctuated.  All that we hope for are good rides, great stories and the friendships we make along the way.  :usa:
